Hey, just thought of putting a thread here for the missions so that we can be better prepared, ideas for planning posts, things like that.

IE what OOC to be ready for against the Shrike, for example.

Nice idea, was going to use the mission notes for that very purpose, but since no-one seems to ever check them affraid we may as well use the forum.

For the moment, we're (once launch has been posted) on our way to Typournis III. I've already outlined our objectives for the meantime IC.

Thing is, I wanted this mission to have a more open-ended sequence, i.e. I'd rather not dictate the course of this mission. Just prior to arrival, I'll brief you all on how to be prepared, so I'd recommend tightening those blinkers to this thread a day or two before then.

I'm gonna gamble here in saying that the Shrike aren't gonna be pushovers. So what kinda things can we expect from em? Tactically-wise, etc?

They favour attacking in swarms - strength in numbers. Their weapons are fairly basic and their shields pretty weak; what more can you expect from raiders who like to target civilian colonies?

Tactics, Just like the ones those Pirates in Somalia use to take on much bigger ships. Or like we will compare to, a bunch of wolves.

This isn't gonna be over and done with in one fell swoop, is it? Some sort of problems gotta occur, such as them scattering, then us giving chase and getting ambushed, prolonging our mission, things like that?

We might be considered a punch in the neck, but we're no Galaxy class. We can't keep track of or fire upon every single ship, so sure, we'll be kept on our feet. That's the great thing about having pulse weapons - unpredictable and much, much harder to aim than phasers.

And yes, it's rather like a bird attacking a pack of wolves (not sure if falcons actually do that); we swoop in, deliver as much damage as possible, swoop back out again to get our bearings, then go in for another run.

Lucky we've got a very Precise Helmsman, and a CTO whose head's always in the Clouds. Not to mention the OF's equivalent to a "Red October" vehicle and some funky new Combat Maneuvers.

Hey, should we do a JP to polish up on maneuvers? Drills, things like that? Response times?

Oh, and when can I/one of us give Oxmis back his duties?

Zuri and the Chief are JPing about just that, as we speak. But I've requested she send the Chief over to you for reinstating, for security reasons of course... clown

... and I've just about wrapped up my end, so it falls on the Good Doctor to get the Chief back on track.

err, provided he hides something from the other Senior officers, lol

Are you guys talking about me behind my back?

How about getting a few posts in so this mission can get underway?

Hey, Guys. Some of us have probably been expecting to do a new global JP, and I was up for asking is anyone up for a big JP for a battle drill? Plus, should give Ren a chance to be part of one Smile

Sounds like a good idea, be nice for Ren to get to know the crew on a touch-and-go basis.

Once we've finished the drill, I'm going to organise another staff meeting, before we actually arrive at Typournis. All will be made clear at the meeting.
